Dog Toys, Treats, & Gear

Planet Dog - Maine Made!
Planet Dog has emerged as a leader in the canine community in recent years. They make superior toys and products, but they are also leaders in the social responsibility movement. 2% of every Planet Dog purchase goes to their Planet Dog Foundation, whose philanthropic mission is to promote and celebrate programs that enable dogs to serve and support their best friends. These vital funds, augmented by individual financial contributions and a growing endowment, are donated back to non-profit canine service programs nation-wide. We love their products and their mission...Ziggy just knows that they're his favorite toys!

Family Dog Digest -- This is a family-run magazine dedicated to providing quality information to Virginia pet owners of all kinds, but it is especially geared towards dog owners.  They will send you a free magazine if you ask, and you can pick up copies of their magazines at many pet-centric businesses.  If you do nothing else, get a copy of their annual Travel Guide, with lists of dog friendly hotels, emergency vets, and much more.  Check 'em out!

Animal Rescue of Tidewater - This local animal rescue accepts unwanted animals from individuals, or from the SPCA and local Animal Control shelters when the animal's time there is up.  The animals are placed into a network of foster homes, brought current on vaccinations and spayed/neutered, ads are run, potential owners are screened, and ultimately permanent homes are found.  ART is an approved rescue with nearly every shelter in the region, as well as the State Veterinarian.  ART also advocates for improved animal welfare, educates the public about animal welfare and animal issues, and works to build coalitions with their animal welfare partners.

Rainbow Animal Rescue - Rainbow Animal Rescue is an all breed, 501(C)(3) non-profit canine rescue group.  They have no shelter of their own and rely on fosters to house the animals until they can be adopted.  The fosters give the animals a loving, home environment to prepare them for adoption.  Their website has a ton of educational links and information as well as information about fostering and adopting dogs.  Check 'em out!
